About the Role
Good Automation is seeking a Principal LabVIEW Test Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design, development, integration, and support of complex automated test and measurement systems.
In this role, you will
- Architect and develop NI LabVIEW applications
- Lead the integration of test and measurement hardware

You will serve as a senior technical resource for customers, engineers, and other LabVIEW developers.

Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and maintain LabVIEW applications for automated test, measurement, data acquisition, analysis, and control.
- Lead the technical design and integration of instrumentation, sensors, data acquisition devices, motion and control hardware, and other test-system components.
- Define scalable software architectures, coding standards, reusable components, and development best practices for LabVIEW projects.
- Lead technical discussions with customers, engineers, and stakeholders to define system requirements, technical objectives, acceptance criteria, and project risks.
- Evaluate technical approaches and make design decisions based on system performance, reliability, maintainability, schedule, and cost.
- Perform design reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis for complex LabVIEW applications and integrated test systems.
- Lead onsite system integration, commissioning, validation, customer training, and technical troubleshooting.
- Maintain, enhance, modernize, and refactor existing LabVIEW applications and test systems.
- Mentor LabVIEW developers and test engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
- Develop and maintain software architecture documentation, system specifications, test procedures, configuration records, and project documentation.
- Provide senior-level technical support to customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify technical risks, customer needs, and potential project opportunities during customer engagements and communicate them to the appropriate internal team.
- Support project planning by helping estimate technical scope, level of effort, resource requirements, and implementation risks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, another engineering discipline, or a related technical field.
- At least 10 years of professional LabVIEW programming and application development experience.
- At least 10 years of experience designing or integrating automated test and measurement systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading the architecture and delivery of complex LabVIEW-based systems.
- Advanced understanding of hardware integration, instrumentation, communication protocols, data acquisition, and test-system architecture.
- Experience developing modular, scalable, and maintainable LabVIEW applications.
- Experience with data analysis, visualization, system validation, and performance optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical reviews and resolve complex software, hardware, and system-integration problems.
- Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to customers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership across projects.
- Ability to work independently, set technical direction, and collaborate with customers and project teams.
- Ability to manage complex technical assignments from requirements definition through deployment and ongoing support.
- Ability to travel by car to customer facilities throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area and occasionally to other locations, as required.
Security Clearance Requirement
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Secret security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required pursuant to applicable government contract requirements.
Applicants must be willing to complete the required background investigation and security-clearance process.
Certification Requirement
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
- Hold an active Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA) certification.
- Hold an active Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) certification and demonstrate advanced LabVIEW architecture and technical-leadership experience.
Technical Interview Requirement
Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate LabVIEW coding on their own computer and share their screen during the interview.

Location and Travel
This is a remote position for candidates who are located in, or willing to relocate to, the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
Employees will primarily work from home but must be available to travel to customer facilities for:

- Commissioning
- Training
- Technical support
Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, with occasional schedule adjustments based on customer integration, commissioning, or support needs.
